Tressie Lynn Davenport-Mayle went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, September 24, 2015. Born to Mae Bell Davenport and Willie Slay on June 18, 1957, Tressie was formerly employed by May Company (Macy's) and Hilton Hotel. Tressie was a member of the Midnight Ladies Motorcycle Club, aka "Lady Luck". She was an avid fisher and loved roses, watermelon, spending time with her family and her dog Cotton. She also loved to crotchet and made her family and friends beautiful blankets. Every newborn child in the family received their very own "Tressie Creation."
Tressie was preceded in death by her father Willie Slay, maternal grandparents Sebell and Thad Mattox, paternal grandparents Virginia and Tommy Slay, great grandmother Virginia Grant-Slay, granddaughter Brianna, sister Jenell Davenport and Godmother Tressie Chambers. She leaves to cherish her memory daughters Monica M. Chauncey of Baytown, Texas, KiOnna Meager (Mark) of Canton, Ohio; four grandchildren – Qauntiz Smitherman of Baytown, Texas, Taija Meager, Taliah Meager and TaKiyah Meager all of Canton; four sisters Mary E. Pratt of Atlanta, Ga., Beatrice Tharp (Jonathan) of Canton, Willie Mae Davenport-Wilson (Anthony) of Simpsonville, KY and Kim Patterson-Pate of Sarasota, FL; four brothers Thomas Davenport, Terry Patterson and Tomier (Kim) Davenport all of Canton, and Ted (Mari) Davenport of North Ridgeville, Ohio. Tressie also leaves three special childhood friends Mary Bradford and Dephanie Young of Canton, and Cecilia Harmon of Michigan City, Indiana and a host of other family and friends.
