April 6, 1950 – August 14, 2022
Tremayne Aldred Dortch, affectionately known as "Tre" to some, and "Boomerang" others, age 72, passed away on Sunday, August 14, 2022.
Tremayne was born in Akron, Ohio to the late George and Catherine Dortch on April 6, 1950. He graduated from East High School in 1968 and then attended the University of Akron. On September 6, 1974, Tremayne was united in matrimony to Beatrice "Bea" Dortch, his wife of 47 years. They share three children in their loving union, Avery Tremayne Dortch, LaShaun Tremayne Dortch, and Yalaunda Tearrah Dortch.
He was employed for Co-Op, and Goodyear. He also worked alongside his father George with his construction company Dortch and Sons. He was a pee wee football coach during the late 70's into the early 80's. He also loved to bowl, and play horse shoes. In addition to this, Tremayne was also a father figure to many in the East Akron community.
In 1968, Tremayne was added to the body of Christ and worshipped at the Wooster Avenue Church of Christ. His songful voice will be greatly missed.
In addition to his parents, Tremayne was preceded in death by in-laws, Harvey James and Maudie Mae Townsend; his sisters, Rosalind Hamilton and Joan Dortch, brother, George Dortch, Jr., sisters-in-law, Lucy James Brown and Kathrine Dortch; and beloved granddaughter Teyaurra Harris. Tremayne leaves to cherish his memories, devoted wife Bea, children, Avery Tremayne Dortch, LaShaun Tremayne Dortch and Yalaunda Tearrah Dortch; brothers, Anthony, Gregory (Fay), all of Akron Ohio, Timothy (Deborah) of Stow Ohio, and Llewellyn (Marlene) Dortch of Fort Washington, Maryland; sisters, Jocelyn McClendon of Prosper Texas, Cassandra Dortch and Karen Dortch, both of Akron Ohio; grandchildren, Serita Dortch, Avery Dortch Jr., Aniyah Dortch, Aliyah Dortch, Christian Dortch, Christopher Dortch, Ariyahna Dortch, Trae'Shaun Dortch, De'Ayre Dortch, Vincent Harris, and Dyani Harris; great grandchildren Journey Dortch, Aaliyah Oliver, Carter Harris, Mylah Davis, King Harris; and special cousin Terence "Jim" Townsend. He will also be missed by his nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.
