Tommy Ray Brown's Obituary

Tommy R. Brown "Tom", age 62, transitioned peacefully and went home to be with the Lord on August 15, 2025, surrounded by his loved ones.

Tommy was born on May 3, 1963, in Akron, Ohio to the late Carrie and Charles Brown Sr. He attended Akron Public Schools and although he had little formal education, he had a knack for hands on work.  He was a very hardworking man with a big heart. Tommy dedicated himself to every task, no matter how big or small.  Whether it was installing carpet, hanging drywall, painting, factory work, or helping family. He ensured quality and resourcefulness in all of his doings.

In his spare time, he had a passion for simple pleasures, such as spending time with his family, singing, dancing, listening to music, chilling, sipping a brew, and scratching his lottery tickets. He loved to relax and watch classic westerns, like Bonanza and Gunsmoke. He also enjoyed watching the tv show Cops and a variety of games shows, Family Feud being his favorite. Now if you really knew Tommy, he was hands down "one of the coldest on them skates", a special bond he shared with his brothers. Tyrone and the late Timothy Brown, affectionately known as "The Brown Boys".  Tommy was the life of the party, right alongside his older sister Dee Dee.  He was definitely spoiled by his oldest sister Wilena, babied by his baby sister Tammy, and kept in line by his oldest brother Babe. Above all, Tommy was a loving father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. His family was the center of his world.

In addition to his parents, Tommy is preceded in death by his brother, Timothy "Tim" Brown.

Tommy is survived by his (6) wonderful children, whom he loved so very much, Tearria Robinson, Trina (Kenneth) Robinson- Eubanks, Te'Erika Robinson, Tommy Robinson, Tanya Robinson, and TyShawnda Brown.  (14) grandchildren, Derrick Sperling Jr. Da'Shaynae Sperling, Jini Sperling, Ja'Zeer Sperling,  Kenslei Eubanks, Kengston Eubanks, Te"Rayai Robinson, Trayce Robinson, Amilian Malone, Dy'Vaire Robinson, Anijah Flint, Myasia Williams, Tamiyla Robinson, Tyran Stanley; (1) great-grandson, Trey'Vion; brothers, Charles Brown Jr. (Samantha), Tyrone Brown; sisters, Wilena Jefferson, Deidra Brown, and Thamara Brown. He will be especially missed by his very special niece who cared for him, Shedera Brown-Murry (Mark), as well as a large extended family of cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.

The loss of Tommy has left an emptiness that words can't fill, but the moments that made him uniquely himself more than anything was when you heard, "What Up Big Dog", "For Real – For Real", (and now the family favorite) "Now That's Alright", are just a few of his infamous sayings that will never be forgotten.
