Thurman L. James departed this earthly life on Thursday, September 8, 2016 at Stone Crossing Nursing Home after an extended illness. Thurman was born   December 1, 1950 to the late Harold Arthur James and Beatrice L. Hill. He lived in Canton, Ohio all of his life and attended McKinley Sr. High School. In addition to his parents Thurman was preceded in death by his grandmother Mary Grant; (3) brothers, Melvin "Dougie" Cherry, Delbert Hill, Matthew "Duke" Hill; (3)      sisters, June Lynette Brown, Stacia Hill, and Alexis Hill-Jackson. He leaves to cherish his memory his fiancé Marilyn Blair; his only child, Anthony L. Calhoun; (4) grandchildren, Tobias Calhoun, Tyler Calhoun, Toni Calhoun, and Arnais Calhoun; brothers, Darek James and Darrell "Zip" Hill; sisters, Karen "Stumpy" Mitchell (Frederick), Brenda "Bushie" Hill, Denise "Sam" Hill;  special nieces, Starla Pride and  Bridney Pride; step-son, Galen Blair; mother-in-law, Rose Mack; special friends, Victor Everett and Emmitt Mathis and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who loved him dearly. Thurman loved life and lived it to the fullest. He       enjoyed traveling, and had an infatuation with fancy cars, especially Cadillacs. He loved spending time with his family, and was loved by everyone who knew him. Thurman always had a positive outlook on life and even in his failing health he never complained. He will be missed dearly.
