Thelma Elizabeth Walker Norwood, 78 of Canton Ohio beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, cousin and friend to many, passed away peacefully on 6/18/26, surrounded by those who cherished her most. Born on 6/30/47. Thelma lived a life defined by strength, generosity, and unwavering devotion to her family and friends

Thelma was known for her kindness, her love for family, and her ability to make everyone feel welcome. Whether offering a warm meal, a listening ear, a place to sleep, or a words of encouragement, she touched countless lives with her compassion. Her home was a place of comfort, laughter, and love.

She is survived by husband Felton J Norwood, daughter Alicia Ann Norwood and grandsons Tre’von, Le’von, Christopher, Sir’von and Ju’von. Great-grandchildren Tre’von Jr., Le’von Jr., and Le’Vonna Renee, bonus grandchildren Latoya “grandbaby” Maske and Khalis “Pooh” Collins.

she also leaves behind brother Clifford Walker and bonus children-Carl,Ruby, Special Sisters-n-law Persella Norwood and Cheryl Norwood, Special brother Roberto “Toby”Walker, Special nieces Sherita Summers, Maria Tolbert, and Special uncle Nazarene Walker, who will all forever carry her memory in their hearts.

She was preceded in death by her father William S.Walker, mother Aletha Collin’s Walker, maternal grandparents Elk and Florence Collin’s and paternal grandparents Robert and Hattie Walker, siblings William “Pete Walker, Annette “Sissy” Marks, Margaret “Susie” Hitchcock, bonus son’s Felton “Butchie” Norwood, and Shawn Asbury granddaughter Darneshia Quincy.

Calling hours will be held from 10:00am–12:00pm on June 26, 2026, at Deliverance Christian Church, 2631 Harvard Ave NW, Canton, OH 44709. A celebration of Thelma’s life will follow at 12:00pm. Family and friends are invited to gather, share memories, and honor her where family and friends will gather to honor her legacy of love, resilience, and grace.

The family invites those who knew her to share memories and keep her spirit alive through acts of kindness—something Thelma believed the world always needed more of.
