Tawonda Denise Hunter, 56, of Canton, Ohio, passed away peacefully on September 21, 2026.

Tawonda was a loving mother, grandmother, family member, and friend whose greatest joy in life was her family. She especially cherished her grandchildren, DeVon Hunter II and Samira Hunter. She would have done anything for them and never missed an opportunity to be present for the moments that mattered. From school events to sporting events, Tawonda was always there cheering them on and proudly supporting everything they did. She was, without a doubt, their biggest supporter.

Tawonda also had a deep love for sports. She enjoyed watching games and was a devoted Dallas Cowboys fan. Her love of sports and her enthusiasm for her grandchildren's activities were just a few of the things that brought her happiness.

Throughout her career, Tawonda worked in the dry-cleaning industry. She was known to those who loved her for her caring heart, strong spirit, and devotion to her family. She leaves behind many cherished memories that will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.

She was preceded in death by her mother, April Turpin Hunter; her father, Willie Hunter, Sr.; her brother, Willie Hunter; and her son's father, Kyce Turner.

Tawonda is survived by her beloved son, DeVon Hunter, and his spouse, Alyssa Hunter; her grandchildren, DeVon Hunter II and Samira Hunter; her brother Dewon Turpin; her sisters Angela Hunter and Chrisonta Hunter; and many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends. 

Tawonda's greatest legacy is the love she gave to her family, especially her grandchildren. She will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

In accordance with Tawonda's wishes, she will be cremated. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
