Steven James Byrd went home to be with the Lord on October 9, 2016.  Steven was preceded in death by his parents James Asa and Laurie Sue Byrd; brothers, Jefferes H. Byrd, Bobby Wells, and Donald Wells.  He leaves to cherish his memory his sisters; Patricia Wells, Jacquelynne Brown, Sherry "Shirl" Morgan ( Steve); brother, Gary Wells; uncle, Jesse Byrd (Evelyn).  At the age of 11 years old Stevie accepted Christ and was baptized while attending Shiloh Baptist Church. He was known throughout his life to attend services at various churches in the community to include Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church.Stevie was a lifelong resident of Canton, Ohio and attended public school.  He was selected for the Canton Higher Achievement Program (CHAP) during grade school eventually gradating from McKinley Sr. High School.To many in the community, he was simply known as "Byrd." Throughout Byrd's lifelong struggles with health issues, he maintained his sense of humor engaging family, friends and many in the community with his versions of social political banter and professional football commentary.  He also leaves to cherish his memory a host of nieces and nephews to include special nieces "Jackie Ann", "Shelmira," "Lashae," and extended family in Tennessee.
