Sondra Aleta
Rhoden "Deta"
July 12, 1945 – November 5, 2022
The Lord decided on Saturday, November 6, 2022, that it was time to call Sondra Aleta "Deta" Rhoden, age 77, to leave her earthly home of suffering and labor no more and join Him in the Heavens above. We are very sad and lonely, but we praise Him with His infinite wisdom despite all that we do, we do not question His will. She was a long and hard sufferer but would always say she was doing fine. She will suffer no more.
Sondra Aleta was the middle girl born of three, to the late Gladys and Orlander "Buster" Campbell. She graduated from Akron North High School in 1963 and continued her education at the University of Akron. Sondra was employed by the U.S. Postal Service and later became employed by House Finance Corporation, where she started as an office clerk and arose and retired as a branch manager.
In 1969 Sondra married Archie Scales, and to this union was born one son, Jibreel Scales. In 1995 she married the late Albert Rhoden whom she was married to for 25 years until God decided Albert's earthly time was up on May 9, 2020.
Aleta loved the Lord and at the age of 10 she joined Mt. Zion Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. A.L. Dykes. There she was a very active member where she served on the Usher and Trustee Board. Sondra was also an active member of the community and was a member of Fidelis Civic and Social Club and The American Businesswomen's club.
Sondra Altea is preceded in death by her husband, Albert Rhoden; and parents, Gladys and Orlander "Buster" Campbell.
She is survived by her son, Jibreel (Ann) Scales, Sr.; stepchildren whom she called her children, Tron Rhoden, Tarea Rhoden, Keith Spears, Bryn Spears, Trish Newborn and Marcus Ruiz; grandchildren, Robert Fields, Jibreel Scales, Jr., Albert Scales, Xavierr Maxwell-Howe, Iyanna Cooper, Russell Cooper, Aliyah Rhoden, and Mariah Rhoden; sisters, Donna Harris and Sherry Campbell; nieces and nephews, Troy Campbell, Matthew Campbell, Andrea Hayward and Gena Harris-Tucker; and a host of other relatives and friends.
