Shirley A. Green's Obituary

Shirley A. Green (née Black) was born in Cleveland, Ohio on Monday May 28, 1945, to mother La'Verne Black and father Ernest Brown. Shirley gave birth to her pride and joy James H. Twine Jr. her one and only child whom she loved.

Shirley moved to Akron, Ohio in 1975. She gained employment at Ohio Jobs and Family Services as a social advocate. During her tenure at OJFS Shirley helped many families. Shirley believed in being on time and doing efficient and effective work.

She was blessed and able to retire from Ohio Jobs and Family Services in 2012.

Before moving to Akron, Shirley was a member of St. Paul's Catholic Cathedral in Cleveland, Ohio. Shortly after becoming a resident of Akron, she united with The King's Chapel under the tutelage of Pastor Howard Harris (deceased) where she served on the usher board, nurses guild and Mother's board. Shirley was a dedicated and faithful member until her health declined and was unable to attend physically. On March 17, 1993, Shirley joined International Free and Accepted Modern Masons, Inc., and Order of the Eastern Star. There, she expounded her SERVICE to God and her purpose in serving others. Shirley was a Daughter, Sister, Mother, Wife, and Widow yet she continued to serve God and all mankind.

Her faithful dedication allotted Shirley the opportunity to serve as Ohio's Grand Matron, (past), The National District Grand Queen Bathsheba, (past) in the Exalted Degree, as a Lady Knight, Royal Lady, Rose of 7 Seals and Rose Auxiliary. What a Mighty Woman of God!!

Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, La'Verne and Ernest, her grandmother Annie Mae Black, her only child (son) James H. Twine Jr, aunt Susie Mae Bond, brother Bobby L. Dawson and husband Jimmy Green.

Shirley leaves to cherish her legacy her one and only sister El'Nora Darby, granddaughter Crystal Miles, grandson James Miles. Bonus grandchildren: Tiera Miles, Shonta Allen and Whitney Gibson- Santora, 9-great grandchildren, 1- great great grandchild, Goddaughter Jenell Blackmon, Loyal and devoted friend Lemmie Smith, her IFAMM Family, The King's Chapel Family, her OES Chapter Lady Wyckoff #172 and host of other friends and family.
