Shirley A. Edwards was born in Akron, Ohio on November 12, 1949, to Thomas and Annie Edwards. She attended Grace Elementary School, West Junior High School and South High School.

During her adolescent years Shirley enjoyed dancing, music, art and also traveling.

In her later years she loved to shop, spend time with her family, especially her favorite niece Lynn and attending church. She also enjoyed watching her favorite shows, Criminal Minds was one of her favorites and watching movies as well.

She is preceded in death by both of her parents; and brothers, Willie James Edwards and Floyd Edwards.

She leaves to cherish her loving memory, sisters, Joanne D. (Frankie) Franklin, Ruth A. Seiler and Flora F. (Leroy) Hatten; nephews and nieces, Duane Edwards, Vernita Howard, Aron Edwards, Quintina Casillo, Angela Myers, Adrianna Hannlon and Lynn Edwards; great nieces and nephews, Darant Edwards, Quintella Carter, Quentin Edwards, Alonzo Edwards, Raheem Franklin, Alexis Steele, Antonio Steele, and Tishyra, Tamia and Trevon Myers; and a host of other relatives and friends.
