Sharon D.
Ash
July 21, 1963 – June 2, 2024
Sharon Denise Ash (Palmer) was born July 21, 1963, in Barberton, Ohio to the late Karen E. Simmons and Leon Bray. She was called to eternal rest on Sunday, June 2, 2024.
The oldest of four siblings, Sharon was known for her loving, audacious, and matter-of-fact mannerisms. Affectionately referred to as "Big Ma" by her beautiful grand- and great-grandchildren, family has always been the pinnacle of Sharon's world, from her close-knit relationships with her sister- and brother- cousins, to raising her loving sons and sharing an unbreakable bond with her siblings.
Thirty years ago, she married the love of her life, beloved and faithful husband, Green (Bimp) Ash III, in Akron, Ohio, and together they built a life in Atlanta, Georgia. Collectively, Sharon and Bimp's perseverance became a shining example for their families. Their home became the catalyst for creating beautiful memories; from hosting summer vacations and Thanksgiving dinners, to opening their doors to family members transitioning to Georgia to start new lives of their own. They always extended themselves to others.
Starting as an entry-level worker at Sunrise Senior Living, Sharon advanced throughout the years and was acknowledged by colleagues and affiliates. She received numerous awards industry-wide for her accomplishments and contributions and eventually became the Director of Sales for over ten years. Her leadership, discernment, and intelligence radiated in all that she did; and more importantly, she was known to make things happen. Sharon's compassion for helping others was exemplary.
Those who knew her closely also knew that Sharon loved turning something old into something new! She enjoyed a good home project and trying new renovations; the siblings' weekly FaceTime check-ins became legendary for spurring on new projects for all of them. Whenever shopping, she always joked, 'You can never have too much!'
Sharon is preceded in death by her mother, Karen E. Simmons; grandparents, Robert and Jerusha Palmer; and aunt, Rose Clinton. She leaves to cherish her memories, husband, Green Ash III; sons, Robert Palmer, Ryan Palmer, and Green (Latoya) Ash IV; daughters, Tierra (Darshaun) Richerson and Cierra Ash; fourteen grandchildren, three great-grandchildren; sister, Sheila (Michael) Thornton of Columbus, OH; brothers, Ruben (Yolanda) Simmons and Michael (Sherry) Simmons of Akron, OH; uncle, Gerald Palmer; special friends, Terrie Hamilton and Terri Clayton, and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
