Shakita Boyd, born June 3, 1981, passed away peacefully on January 12, 2026, in Akron, Ohio.
Shakita was a strong and loving woman who fought her battles with courage and grace. She was firm yet giving, strict but full of love, and had a way of making everyone feel seen and valued. She opened her heart and her home to many, including children who were not her own, loving them as family. A gifted cook, Shakita fed people not only with her hands, but with her soul.
Shakita loved her children deeply and was a breath of fresh air to everyone around her. Honest, outspoken, and real in every sense, she touched countless hearts and left a lasting mark on all who knew her.
In accordance with her wishes, cremation has been chosen. No public services or viewings will be held.
Shakita was preceded in death by her mother, Doris Peoples.
She leaves to cherish her memory her five children, Jonay'Za Stiggers, Tantyana Hill, Reyhanna Parker, Timothy Peoples, and Chanell Peoples; her beloved grandchildren, Knowledge Pugh, Khymere Pugh, Kardiare Dabney, Kha'Lanii Sherman, and Marlon Brown III; and her loving partner, Jonathan Scurry.
She is also survived by her siblings, Jermaine Peoples, Cherice Peoples, Cherrelle Kenner, and Krystal Motley; her cherished nieces and nephews, Thomas Dotson Jr., Aaliyah Johnson, JaLena Meadows, Davanta Motley, Daviontay, Walter, Heaven, and Nevaeh; and her close friends, Threase Robinson, Kelly McMillan, Cleve,Nekol Johnson and Kenee Sherman, who each held a special place in her life.
Shakita's love, strength, and legacy will continue to live on through her family, friends, and all those whose lives she touched.
The family sincerely thanks everyone for their love, prayers, and support during this time of remembrance.
