Sarah Powell was born August 16, 1924 in Ruleville, Mississippi to the late Charles G. Powell, Sr. and the late Arrah Armenthia (Harris) Powell. She departed this life on Friday, September 29, 2023 at her home after a brief illness. She was a resident of Canton, Ohio where she worked and raised her son Gerald Powell. Following her retirement from the Miller Sales Company in Ohio, in 1988 she moved to Southern California to be with her son. She was baptized and added to the Crenshaw Church of Christ in Los Angeles in 1989. In 1991, she moved with her son to the Inland Empire and became a member of the Lincoln Avenue Church of Christ in Riverside and later the Eleventh St. Church of Christ in San Bernardino, where she remained a faithful member until her passing. She loved the Eleventh St. congregation and looked forward to attending the annual Ladies Seminar. She also prided herself on being the oldest member of the Eleventh Street congregation.

Preceding Sarah in death are her mother and father and all 11 of her siblings. She leaves to mourn in her passing her loving family Son Gerald and daughter-in-law Charlena, granddaughter Tricia and grandson-in-law Bud Williams of Westfield, Indiana, granddaughters Morgan Lumpkins of Los Angeles, CA, Seneca Negrete of Santa Ana, CA, granddaughter Nicole Negrete and granddaughter-in-law Virginia Negrete of Riverside, CA, one great-grandson Zachary Williams of Westfield, Indiana, one great-granddaughter Ohleena Paea of Riverside and a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, nephews, church members and friends, all which she loved dearly.
