Sandra Denise
Martin
June 23, 1962 – January 9, 2023
Sandra D. Martin, was called to eternal glory on January 9th at the age of 60. She was born on June 23, 1962 in Panther Burn, Mississippi and was the seventh of twelve children born to Essie B. King.
Sandra and her family moved to Canton, Ohio when she was just a child. Education was extremely important to her. Sandra graduated from Timken High School and went on to receive an associates of Applied Business-Business Management Technology degree from Stark State College of Technology; a bachelor's degree in Management-Organizational Leadership from Walsh University; and Master of Business Administration degree from Walsh University. Sandra accomplished these great academic achievements while being the primary caregiver for her mother and dealing with her own health challenges.
Sandra had a dream of opening a family fun center in the city of Canton. The center would have been called "Bumboy's", a nickname she called her oldest grandson. Spending time with her family was important to Sandra. She spent a lot of quality time with her two sons and grandchildren and attended many of their school and sporting events. Sandra enjoyed having fun and making sure that those around her had fun as well. Hosting huge cookouts for family and friends was something that Sandra took pride in doing. She would always say her cookouts are "going down."
Sandra was preceded in death by her mother, Essie B. King; grandfather, Tommy Dotson; grandmother, Mother Lou Winnie Dotson; brothers, James Dotson, Fred Dotson and Roy King; former father-in-law, Phillip Martin; and brother- in-law, Mike Butt.
Sandra is survived by her loving sons, Phillip Jamar (Angela) Martin and Jeremi (Da'Quaya Dawkins) Martin; grandchildren, Tiarah Bing, Jaliyah Martin, Phillip Martin, Jr., Ja'Miya Martin, Jah'Ziah Martin and Ja'Kya "Toots" Martin; great-grandchild, Aaron "AJ" Terrell, Jr., siblings, Ella Butt, Linda (Morris) Venson, Lonnie King, Earl King, Terry King, Tyrone King, Bruce (Tammy) King and Vanessa Floyd; former mother-in-law, Rosie Martin; former sister-in-law, Marcie King; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
