Sandra D. Calhoun's Obituary

On January 11, 2025, at the age of 65, Sandra Denise Calhoun transitioned to her eternal home with the Lord. Sandra, affectionately known by many as "Mama Calhoun," was born on September 16, 1959, to parents Leroy Calhoun Sr. and Betty (Walker) Calhoun. She was raised in Akron, OH, alongside her four brothers. As the only girl, she developed a love for cooking and caring for others at an early age.

Sandra attended Robinson Elementary, Goodyear Middle, and East High School. She went on to have three children, whom she raised with extraordinary strength, unconditional love, and unwavering care. In addition to her three biological children, Sandra was a motherly figure to many in Joy Park and the entire Eastside community. One of her greatest sources of happiness was caring for people and putting smiles on their faces. She was revered for her amazing cooking, her ability to host events, and her knack for making everyone feel at home.

Sandra was someone people could always depend on. She was willing to lend a helping hand wherever needed, often spending her time as a caretaker for the children of others. She babysat countless children over the years, earning the trust and admiration of those around her. Everything she did was rooted in love, and her warm spirit left a mark on everyone she met.

Above all, Sandra cherished being a grandmother. She wore the name "Granny" with gratitude and pride, treasuring her 10 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.

Sandra is preceded in death by her parents and her brothers, Leroy Calhoun Jr. (June) and Gregory Calhoun. She leaves behind to cherish her memory her children Michael (Mike) Calhoun, Tamaria (Tia) Calhoun, and Lakeeta Calhoun; her brothers Alan Calhoun and Clarence Calhoun; her niece LaShanna Calhoun; her nephew Jason Calhoun; her grandchildren Dameona Meriweather, Dameon Meriweather Jr., Daveon Garcia, Dania Garcia, Michael Calhoun Jr., Jayda Stanford, Laneya Calhoun, Alayshia Calhoun, Miracle Brown, and D'Mone Adams; her friend/sister Harriet Calhoun; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Please continue to care for and love one another in the special way that Mama Calhoun did. As a tribute to her words, we say, "Goodnight Hun," you may now get your well-deserved rest.
