Samuel (Sam) Burton Jr. departed this life on December 26, 2014.  Sam was born August 7, 1950 in Canton, Ohio to Samuel Burton Sr., and Sallie Chappell Burton.  He was preceded in death by his father, Samuel Burton Sr., and sister Wendeline (Wendy) Ross. Sam began his Christian walk at an early age at Peoples' Baptist Church in Canton, Ohio where he was baptized.  He continued to serve the Lord at New Beginnings Foursquare Gospel Church, in Canton, Ohio under Pastor Walter S. Moss.  Sam consistently studied the Bible and had several favorite scriptures.  Sam had an easy going demeanor, friendly and caring spirit. Sam is survived by his mother Sallie Burton, son Andre' Lamar Burton, grandchildren Olivia Burton and Andre' Burton Jr. (A.J.).  Three sisters Benetta Burton, Beverly (Michael) Bush and Debbie Burton Cheatham;  nephews Joshua Ross, Jordian Ross, Montel Bush and Erick Golden, nieces Jacquelyn (Calvin) Terry, Jessica Cheatham, Imani Bush and Trisetta (Vincente') Paris. Sam was a graduate of Canton South High School, where he played several sports including baseball and basketball.  He attended Central State University on a basketball scholarship.  He served in the U.S. Navy, where he received the National Defense Service Medal. He leaves to cherish his memories Marcia Glenn, mother of their son, and a host of family and friends.  His faith, courage, strength and commitment to his Mother remained solid throughout his life.
