Ruby M.
Avery
d. Jun 2, 2026
It is with profound sadness and hearts full of love that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, Ruby M. Avery. Ruby departed this world on June 2, 2026, in the comforting presence of her family.
Born in Belle Sumter, Alabama, Ruby was the cherished daughter of Pearlie and Aaron McCarthy. Ruby is now joyfully reunited with them, and with her husband, James Avery, who was the love of her life.
Ruby's journey through life was marked by her passion for education. Having earned her degree in Alabama, she moved to Akron, Ohio, where she furthered her education with a master’s degree. For 30 years, she was a beacon of knowledge and inspiration in the classroom, molding the minds of countless young students.
Beyond her professional accomplishments, Ruby was a devoted wife and mother. Her marriage to James Avery was a testament to true love, and together they were blessed with two wonderful daughters, Jeanine (Johnny) Bell and Antoinette (Kip) Avery-Simmons.
She leaves behind her daughters, Jeanine and Antoinette, her granddaughter Kameron, her sisters Juanita Noell and Annie McCarthy, and a host of nephews, nieces, family, and friends who will forever cherish the memories of her love and laughter.
A graveside service to honor Ruby's life will be held on June 19, 2026, at 12:00 PM at Glendale Cemetery, located at 150 Glendale Avenue, Akron, OH 44302, with procession beginning at 11:30 a.m. at Rhoden Memorial Home 1101 Palmetto Ave, Akron, OH 44306.
Her family kindly requests that flowers be sent to Rhoden Memorial Home in her remembrance.
As we say goodbye to Ruby, we celebrate a life well-lived, a life that touched so many with her warmth, wisdom, and unwavering love. She will be deeply missed but forever remembered in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know her.
