Rosie Mariah (Kay)Jones was born on May 4, 1929 to the late Noble Kay Sr. and Katherine Kay in Guthrie, KY. In 1950 she relocated to Orrville, Ohio and then moved to Canton, Ohio. She became a resident of Belle Glade, FL in 1986 and lived there for 34 years. She returned to Canton in April of 2020. She graduated from Cornerstone Christian Correspondence School in 1967. She was baptized at an early age. She was a member of New Bethel Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. R.F. Hairston III in Belle Glade, where she was a Sunday School teacher.
Rosie was preceded in death by her late husband, John Jones, Sr. brothers, Thomas Kay, James Kay, Chaplin Noble Kay Jr. Arthur Kay, Sr. and Bobby Smith; sisters; Velma Harris, Jeanette Kay and Claudette Kay; daughter Shirley Smith; granddaughters Ravan Gaskins, and De'Bra
Babb; grandson John Jones III, and great granddaughter Tanya Smith.
Rosie is survived by sons, Terry Jones (Valerie), John (Brenda) Jones, Ricky (Gwen) Jones, James Jones. Daughters Toni Brown, Vanessa Jones, Arlene (Reverend R.F) Hairston III, and Renee (Scott) Jones- Showalter. Brother, Leon Smith. Sister-in-law Florence Kay. 20 Grandchildren, 38 Great- Grandchildren, 13 Great Great-Grandchildren and host of nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends.
