Rosie Lee Davis' Obituary

Rosie Lee Davis, 101 was called home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ peacefully in her home on July 12th, 2024.

Rosie was born on October 6th, 1922 to Napoleon Clopton and Mary Magaline McGuire in Courtland Alabama. She was the second oldest of 14 siblings. At the age of 18, Rosie moved to Ohio, and years later she met and married the love of her life the Late Charles Davis Sr., and from that union came 4 children. Rosie found the Lord at the age of 18 and was a woman of great faith, who loves the Lord and her church family at Shelton Temple Prayer COGIC in Akron, where she has been a member for 70 years and holds the title of "Church Mother". Rosie was known for her quick witty and catchy saying and is known for saying "I'm hoppin' but not stoppin!", "I'm fine and dandy, sweet like candy!", "Its tight, but its right!", "I ain't write it, I read it, it's in the book!" And the one mostly everyone known her for "Are you listening Children?!" when the preacher's message got good to her!

Rosie was a homemaker, who was employed by Akron Public Schools as a Parent Consultant and volunteered at Headstart. She belonged to many organizations such as the PTA, DARE, Neighborhood Watch and the Joy Park Federation. She enjoyed cooking for family, listening to the music of Shirley Caesar and Rance Allen, and catching up with friends on the phone.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Mary and Napoleon Clopton, husband, Charles Davis, Sr.; eleven of her 14 siblings, Son David Clopton, and great grandson Tyler Shamburger.

She leaves to cherish her memory Son Charles (Zenobia) Davis Jr., Daughters Jacqueline (Allen Sr) Gordon, Mary Easley, daughter in law Shirley Jones Clopton, brothers Jessie Clopton, sisters Mattie Clopton, Emma Dellbright, Grandchildren April (Dedrick) Dilapree , Lloyd (Sheridan) Clopton, Allen Jr (Shawnee) Gordon,Jack (Alexandria) Gordon, Rayshawn (Ophelia) Easley, Tenisha (Alicia) Easley, Tiffany(LaMar W.)Gordon, Terrance Jones, Patrick (Teonka) Ward, Mariah (Antejuan) Phillips , 49 Great Grandchildren, 20 Great Great Grandchildren, special niece Loretta Sanders , special nephew Cortez Clopton and a host of family and friends.

We also really cherish her caregivers Denise Huggins, Stephanie Richards, Carla Gordon, Al Gordon Sr, Jackie Gordon, Jack Gordon and Tiffany Gordon and her Special "Chicken Cook" LaMar Ware.
