Ronda R.
Ertel
January 22, 1980 – December 7, 2024
Ronda Renee Ertel (affectionately known as "Bird," "Pookie," and "Chocolate Drop"), age 44, of Canton, Ohio, passed away on December 7, 2024. Born on January 22, 1980, Ronda was a bright light in the lives of all who knew her. She was the beloved daughter of Debra Frazier and Kenneth Brown and stepdaughter to John C. Frazier. Her loss leaves a profound void in the hearts of her devoted husband, Thomas Allen Ertel; her loving children, Annastasia Anease Ertel and her treasured grandchildren, Avani Clementine Renee Coppedge and Aatreaus Israel Allen Coppedge, who were the pride and joy of her life. She also leaves behind her siblings, Marcus Peterson (and his wife, Nicole), Joseph Peterson (and his fiancée, Emaline), and Kenny Peterson, for whom she had an unshakable and boundless love. Ronda is also survived by her large extended family, including numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and other loved ones who will deeply miss her presence.
Ronda's family legacy was built on a strong foundation of love, faith, and loyalty. She was the granddaughter of Susie Peterson and J.D. Peterson and the cherished niece of James D. Peterson, Diane Roberson, and Vanessa Peterson. Her deep connections to family and friends made her known as the "glue" that held loved ones together. She carried the role of the family's "treasure chest of secrets" with pride, offering wisdom, support, and comfort to those who needed her most.
Ronda's personality was unforgettable. She was known for her strong-willed, stubborn nature, a heart full of compassion, and a touch of playful pettiness that only made her more endearing. Her loyalty knew no bounds—she would do anything for anyone she loved. Her memorable catchphrases, "Won't he do it?!", "Look at GAWD!" and "You betta say it!" became signature expressions that will forever echo in the hearts of those she left behind.
Her creativity and passion were undeniable. Ronda had an unmatched love for makeup and hair, often transforming ordinary moments into extraordinary displays of beauty and style. But don't let her dazzling smile and warm demeanor fool you—Ronda was a skilled gamer who would take on any challenger with the same determination she showed in life.
Professionally, Ronda took great pride in her role as a phlebotomist, a position she saw as more than a job—it was her way of helping others while continuing to build her family's legacy. Her most cherished roles, however, were being a mother, grandmother, sister, and daughter. Her love for her family was boundless, and she passionately embraced each role.
Her spiritual life was a guiding force rooted in the strong foundation established by her mother and grandmother. Ronda's unwavering faith allowed her to be a beacon of hope and inspiration to those around her. Her light shined brightly, illuminating the paths of friends and family alike.
Services to Honor Her Life Ronda's life will be celebrated at Union Baptist Church in Canton, Ohio, on December 18, 2024. The viewing will take place from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., followed by funeral services from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Following the service, she will rest at Evergreen Memorial Gardens in Louisville, Ohio. Family, friends, and loved ones are invited to come together to celebrate her legacy, share memories, and honor her unforgettable mark on the world.
In her 44 years, Ronda left a legacy of love, beauty, and loyalty. Her impact on her family and friends is immeasurable, and her spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew her. She was a mother, a daughter, a sister, a niece, a cousin, a grandmother, a friend, and a light in the lives of many.
Her family finds comfort in the knowledge that her journey continues in the presence of loved ones who had gone before her, including her grandparents, Susie and J.D. Peterson, her daughter, Jazmon Hinkle, and her stepfather, John C. Frazier, who will be waiting to greet her in heaven. Ronda's laughter, warmth, and light will never fade from the hearts of those who love her.
Rest in peace, Ronda Renee Ertel. You will always be loved, and you will never be forgotten.
