Roger Lee Zachary Sr. was born on December 8, 1946 in Glenn, GA and transitioned into eternity with His heavenly Father on March 17, 2025. At an early age, He accepted Jesus Christ as Savior and was baptized at Stateline Baptist Church. Roger attended school in Franklin, GA through Junior High School until his mother, Bennie Zachary, moved her children to Canton, OH in 1962. The year of 1965 was a big year for Roger. He graduated from McKinley Senior High School and became an employee of The Timken Company, where he underwent an apprenticeship program for a supervisory position and attended classes at Stark Tech. This proved an excellent career choice, as he worked for the same company for 37 years, many of which he performed as a supervisor. In that same year, Roger married the love of his life, Bernice Randle on June 26. To their union, four children were born. Their love remained strong for 51 years; only being separated by Bernice's death in 2016. Roger was a huge pillar within the community as he served as a youth baseball coach and was known as the "neighborhood dad." He was appointed by Mayor Janet Weir-Creighton to serve on the Stark County Regional Planning Committee from 2005 - 2007. Additionally, he served on the Georgeview Estates Executive Board, holding rhe position of Vice President for many years. A member of Union Baptist Church under the pastorship of Sherman Martin for nearly 20 years, Roger served as an usher for several years and was part of the successful Expansion Committee to revamp the church. Family was the most important part of life for Roger. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, nephew, uncle, and cousin to his entire family. Whenever needed, he was there - no matter the city or state. He imparted wise counsel and love; making each person feel as if they mattered most to him. As well, he held many positions in the Heard County Club, chat fostered fellowship within the Zachary, Brewer, and Glenn family through gatherings, family reunions, and during hardships locally and abroad. Roger was proceeded in death by his wife, Bernice; parents, Grady and Bennie Zachary; son, Roger Lee Zachary Jr. "Junebug;" and brother, Morrise Zachary; father in law, Johnnie Randle Sr.; and mother in law, Annie Pearl Randle; sister in law, Danielle Dabney. His memory is left to be cherished by his children: Jeffrey Zachary, Keith Zachary Sr., and Karla Zachary; grandchildren: Onta)')'a, Kiaira, DreShon, Keith Jr., Ramir, Kyrie, and Mala'hki Zachary; daughter-in-law, Arlene Zachary; sisters: Joyce Zachary and Connie Chavers; brother, Artis (Deb) Zachary; aunts, Carolyn Zachary, Marilyn Glenn, Dorothy Carter, Mary Jo Edmondson, Matron Askew; sister in laws, Jonnie Ruth Lawson, Fannie Randle, Barbara Randle, Brenda Randle, Katrina Dabney; brother in laws, Johnnie (Mary) Randle Jr., Leslie "Shane" Randle Sr. Kyle Dabney, David Dabney, and Johnnie Randle II; bonus son, Jonathan Swint; god-daughter, Marquise Butler; and a host of nieces and nephews that he loved and treated as his very own.
