Stone, Jr.
February 2, 1959 – August 15, 2024
Elder Robert Thomas Stone, Jr. was born on February 5, 1959, to Robert and Bernice Stone. Robert was the youngest sibling, and his sister Nola would say, "Yes he was spoiled."
Elder Stone graduated from Garfield High School in 1977. He worked many jobs and even had his own clean out business. Last working for Acro Mills.
Elder Stone was a faithful husband, father, brother and friend. Elder Stone was a faithful member of Believers of One Messiah (B.O.O.M.) even when his health began to fail him, he would stand and say, "I just thank yah for keeping me." Elder Stone fought a good fight, and he continued to make his homemade chicken noodle soup and making sure his cars were clean. Elder refused to give up driving no matter how many cars were blowing and passing him up. Elder Stone loved to laugh and have fun with his family and do his little dance. He loved hearing his children's voices daily, his love for them was deep.
Elder Stone is preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Bernice Stone; daughter, Brandy (Polo) Smith; grandparents, William and Adeail Henderson; brother-in-law, Dennis Hailstock; three uncles and one aunt.
Elder Stone leaves to cherish his memories, loving wife of 20 years, Dakota Portis-Stone; Daughter, Sherece Smith; step daughter, Brandie Lee Johnson both of Akron; son, Derrick (Karman) Smith of Atlanta; stepson, Aaron Howlett of Akron; grandsons, Isaiah Stone of Atlanta and Diante Edwards of Akron; granddaughters, Destiny Edwards of Akron and Arihanna Smith of Baltimore; great granddaughter, Brandie Stone of Atlanta; great grandson, Tayvierre Hoelett; step grandchildren, Aaron Howlett, Jetwan Howlett, Jenaeta Mooris, Royalty Crooks and Sashalynn (Bammy) Howlett all of Akron; mother in law, Mamie Portis; sisters, Delores (Gill) Foshee and Nola Hailstock of Akron; special brother, Anthony (Tony) Skipper; special cousins, Reginald Scott, Steve Smith and Chuckie; special sisters in law, Batshemer Skipper and Angie Jackson; favorite nephew and niece, Gary and Raquel Covington; special niece, who Elder said saved his life; NaConna Skipper; Elder has a special love for his uncle, Cleo (Sheila) Henderson; aunts, Romonia Fitzgerald, Carleane (Willie) Scott, Katie (Bennie) Hamilton, Min Ora Dee Henderson-Hicks, Cylla Henderson; brothers in law, Aaron Portis (Shawntell) and Donnie Ray Young (Charese) of Milwaukee; sisters in law, Shema (Anthony) Skipper, Elizabeth Derricott and Jaquenetta (Jimmy) Walker all of Akron; special friends, David Crosby, Bro. Darrel Williams and his B.O.O.M. Family, Henry Fain, Jake Humphrey, Keith Toomer and Kenny Cleveland; and a host of other relatives and friends.
