Obituary

Robert Lee Robertson, Sr. (Boot) entered eternal rest on February 20, 2021. Boot was born on February 29, 1932 in Bolivar, Tennessee to Mamie and Yumus Roberson. He was raised in the church by his grandparents. At an early age he discovered his love of the Lord, singing and playing sports. Boot later studied at Lane College to become a teacher. However,  he realized he didn't want to pursue this career, nor was he  called to be a preacher. Boot served in the U.S. Army until receiving an honorable discharge in 1953.

Shortly after moving to Barberton, Ohio to be with his  parents and siblings, he met and married Essie Rackley. Nine children were given to them to bless their union.

Boot took pleasure in raising his children. He encouraged them in their academic studies  and athletic activities. On Saturday mornings, Boot also enjoyed giving "pep" talks to all the boys in the neighborhood prior to a full day of pee-wee football.

Boot worked for Roadway Trucking for 23 years. In his spare time, he would travel the country singing gospel music. In 1956, Boot started his first quartet group, "The Christian All-Stars", and continued singing for almost six decades until his health suffered.  He produced five albums and was a key contributor and lead vocalist for over 40 songs for the Glory of God.

Boot was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Essie Mae, who he missed  dearly.

His legacy and memory will be cherished by his  children,  Robert Jr., Frederick, Alvin, Reginald, Christopher, Kenneth, Sabrina, Patrick, Timothy (Shelby) and Jonathon L. Harris of Pasco, Washington; sisters, Alice and Ann Roberson of Akron; sisters-in-law, Eleanor Carothers Holland and Gertha Boyd of Cleveland. He truly loved his family and will be forever remembered by his numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other loving relatives and friends. He will be truly missed by the "Boys" that stood by his side and knew and loved him.
