Robert Lee Roberson was born on March 20, 1943 to the late Saul Roberson and Macy (Caldwell) Roberson in Jefferson City, Missouri. Robert was born the third child of seven. His family eventually moved from Portageville, Missouri to Cleveland, Ohio.
Robert went to school in Ohio and received his G.E.D. from East Technical High School. He joined and served in the U.S. Army from November 1962-November 1964. He obtained the rank of SP(T) E-4 and was honorably discharged. He also received the Good Conduct medal for exemplary behavior and fidelity in active Federal Military service.
After serving, Robert returned to Cleveland, Ohio in 1965 where a good friend, Bertha McArthur helped him obtain a job at the Fairview Park Nike site in Fairview Park, Ohio; which was west of Cleveland. He eventually became a minute-man and worked for the USA Missile Program until it was phased out.
Robert chose to continue serving with the government and in January of 1972, he moved with his wife and two sons to Massillon, Ohio where he worked in nearby Canton and belonged to the Ohio National Guard until he retired on July 4, 1998.
Robert is proceeded in death by his parents Saul and Macy Roberson, his wife Diane (Peterson) Roberson, his sisters Rosie (Roberson) Moon, Velma Roberson, Geraldine (Roberson) Fair, Quanita (a.k.a. Dorothy (Sweet)) Roberson. He is also pre deceased by his nephews, Howard Roberson, Carlos Roberson and Roman Ray. Robert is survived by his sister, Delores (Roberson) Mauk-Ray, and his brother, Curtis Roberson.
In addition, the following family members live on to share his memories with others; Vermell (a.k.a. Mitzi) Roberson and their children, Anthony Eugene Roberson and Steven Leonard Roberson. His daughter, Endia Roberson, seven grandchildren, Britney, Anekka, Michael, Stefvon, Steven, Alana and Nyema as well as three great-grandchildren Za'riyah, Zae'mier and Zayden. Robert is also survived by a host of cousins, nieces and nephews. He was generous, thoughtful, friendly and had an out-going personality culminating in his leaving a lot of life long friends.
Robert is a professed Christian. He loved cars and was a master mechanic. He loved to share stories and jokes and was not afraid to be the center of attention. He is loved and will be missed by everyone who truly knew him.
