Palmer, Jr.

The honorable Pastor Robert N. Palmer was born September 17,1942 in McDowell, West Virginia he was the first born son of Robert Sr. and Lois (Scales) Palmer. He attended the Jefferson County schools in Steubenville, Ohio until graduating from High School. After graduating High School, he enlisted in the United States Army, serving his country for six years during the Vietnam War. During his time in the army, he attended Airborne School and Ordinance School. While studying at the military academy's he took major courses in airborne, ammunition storage, combat training, military justice, C.B.R training, and code of conduct training. He was a decorated Parachutist, Expert Rifleman, and repaired helicopters. After six years, he received an honorable discharge and returned to his home in Steubenville, Ohio. Later, he relocated to Akron, Ohio and attended community college, receiving an Associate of Science Degree in Air Conditioning and Refrigeration. One special day in 1975, he attended a service at the Ebenezer Apostolic Assembly Church in Akron, Ohio. During this service, God confirmed his love for him and filled him with the gift of the Holy Ghost in accordance with Acts 2:38. Later, he was baptized at the First Apostolic Faith Church. Following the leading of the Lord, he joined and faithfully served the Ebenezer Apostolic Assembly Church, under the leadership of Elder Joseph Scott. His faithful service to God and his church ultimately led to his elevation as a deacon in 1976. He served as a Trustee, Minister, dynamic Sunday School Teacher and various other offices in the church. He was a student of the bible and completed ministry training at the Berean Bible College located at the First Apostolic Faith Church, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Religious Education. Elder Palmer was ordained while attending and Ohio District Council ordination service within the Pentecostal Assemblies of the World Inc. Elder Palmer served several consecutive terms as Sergeant of Arms within the Ohio District Council of the P.A.W. Elder Palmer was not only spiritually gifted but he was an anointed and skillful musician, and was well known for his ability to usher in the presence of GOD while playing his saxophone. In 1983 Pastor Palmer married Sister Mary White and the two remained in faithful service to the Lord. Pastor Palmer continued to follow the leading of the Lord in his service to Ebenezer under the leadership of Pastor Robert (Dorothy) Hale until Pastor Hale retired in January1990. By October 1990, Diocesan Bishop Francis Smith bestowed upon Pastor Palmer the mantle of Senior Pastor. Our beloved, Pastor Palmer was a man of God who led the people of God with tenderness, compassion, wisdom and a deep agape love, and an intangible quality, (which comes directly from the heart of GOD), until his final elevation. Prior to his fulltime service to ministry he worked for twelve years at General Tire and Rubber Company, and as a Property Management Supervisor for a company out of Pittsburgh, PA. Pastor Robert Palmer could always be found helping anyone in need. Throughout his life he maintained a good name and had a warm smile, a kind and wise demeanor that guided those who sought his counsel through the toughest circumstance. He will be truly missed. Pastor Palmer, was preceded in death by his parents, sons: Timothy and Shawn. Siblings: Earl (Duke), Pamela, Phyllis, Johnny. Left to cherish the memories of his love is his wife of forty-one years Mary Palmer, sons: Ronald (Scooter), Gary (Patricia), Tony (Caryn), and Tonya. Sister Sandy. In-laws Annie, George, David. Twenty–five grandchildren, ten great grandchildren, special niece Princess (Marvin), the Ebenezer church family and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
