Renea
Morton
October 16, 1952 – August 4, 2022
Renea Morton transitioned from Labor to Reward on August 4, 2022 at the age of 69. She was born October 16, 1952, and lived in Fort Washington MD. She was a member of Ebenezer AME Church where she actively and tirelessly served in multiple ministries over the years including: Exceptional Person Ministries, Missionary Ministries, Pew Ministry, Potter's House/ Warm Nights Ministry, Single Women's Ministry, Boy Scouts Troop #487, Renea taught AEPM Sunday School for persons with disabilities and she also taught various age groups in the Children's Sunday School department over the years. Renea went on many mission trips to Haiti with her family, and, loved to help with International Missions. Renea loved her family and church family and community. The work she has done exemplifies her altruistic, and philanthropic love of people everywhere she went.
Renea continued to help in her community by making an impact on those she touched by teaching them about some of the many things she loved to do. She enjoyed teaching people of multiple ages how to weave baskets, make flower arrangements. Renea had a passion to be available in service to others at their time of grief during a loss of a loved one by creating special keepsakes and personalized memorial flowers for all of the family members.
Renea was a native of Canton, Ohio and a graduate of Timken Senior High School. She went on to attend Booker T. Washington Business College, where she studied Accounting, and then continued her education at University of the District of Columbia where she earned a Bachelors Degree in Business Administration, specializing in Procurements and Public Contracting. She was personally recruited to work for the Federal Government, starting her life-long career as a public servant at the Internal Revenue Service, then on to the US Treasury, Secret Service, US Mint and US Department of Agriculture.
Renea loved spending time with her family on camping and fishing trips to Canada. She was a real road warrior, enjoying traveling to family reunions and family events, as well as taking cruises around the world. Renea loved the Lord with all of her heart and loved to listen to spiritual music, praising God throughout the day as she traveled down the highways and at home. Some of her favorite songs are: "Going Up Yonder," "It is Well with my Soul," "We Lift Our Hands in the Sanctuary," "Blessed Assurance," "Heavy Load," "This Little Light of Mine" and "Take Me to the King."
Renea loved Ebenezer's multiple mass choirs and would play their concerts on road trips with the family. There would be foot stomping and hand clapping praise breaks as we traveled down the highway. Now, don't forget the big bag of popcorn and Ben Heggy's Chocolates and Nuts. J That's a Morton Tradition!
"The family that prays together and praises God together stays together" and "I was glad when they said unto me let us go into the house of the Lord" were two master keys that Renea lived by. Weather at home, camping, or on a mission trip, Renea, along with the entire Morton Family would take time to pray and have Bible study and praise God together. "O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory?" (I Cor 15:55) We have come together to magnify the Lord and thank Him for the time that we had with his servant, Renea Morton. As Mother Rose Lee Morton love to sing, "We Have Come This Far By Faith Leaning on the Lord, Trusting In His Holy Word. He's Has Never Failed Us, Yet Oh, Oh, Oh. Can't Turn Around, We Have Come This Far by Faith!"
