Obituary

Wife, Beverly Mitchell-Brooks. Children, Reginald Brooks Jr.,  Rodney Brooks,  Kelli Franks.  Step daughters Teri Mitchell-Porter, Stacy Mitchell. Brothers, Booker Brooks, Charles Brooks, Jerry Brooks.  Sisters, Annette Lynch, Beverly Rasberry-Stanford.  Grand children, Reggie III, Ryan, Reeko, Maya Olufemi, Summer Olufunke, Jordyn Oluremi, Kylei, and Kyndal. Aunt Helen Conley and a host of nieces, nephews and other family and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, Booker T. Brooks and Dolores Adams (Conley), Sisters, Jackie Stovall, Gail Young, and Brother, Michael Brooks.  He was a 1962 Akron Buchtel High School graduate.  He received his M.A. in Urban Studies and B.A. Social Studies - Secondary Education from the University of Akron.  He started his career working for Goodyear and later became a Councilman for Ward 4 in West Akron as well as a teacher for Akron Public Schools and the University of Akron.  He was the 1st minority to run for Mayor of Akron.  During the 90's he was administrator for the Minority Student Services in the Department of Education at Penn St. University.  He was also a lifetime member of the NAACP.  Reggie enjoyed wood working and spending time with his grand children during the last years of his life.  We invite family and friends to attend a memorial of his life at Rhoden Memorial Home on August 9, 2014, at 3:00pm with memorial services starting at 4:00pm.
