Phyllis Orie (Sellers) McBride, age 86, of Massillon, Ohio surrounded by her family transitioned peacefully to be with the Lord on Thursday morning, December 4, 2014 at Aultman Hospice Compassionate Care Center following a 4-month illness. Phyllis was born September 3, 1928 to the late Owen and Annie Sellers in Ruby, South Carolina. Phyllis "Orie" was a unique woman known for her warm personality, genuine love and concern for all people, especially her family.
Phyllis was united in marriage to the late Ulysses McBride in 1946 and moved to Massillon, Ohio in 1951. She worked and retired after 16 years from Nickles Bakery in Navarre, Ohio. She was a faithful member of Shiloh Baptist Church serving on numerous auxiliaries most recently as past President of the Shiloh Missionary Society, member of Church Women United and the Massillon Community Circle of Love Outreach Ministry.
Preceded in death by parents, former husband Ulysses McBride, son, Eugene McBride, daughter, Debra (McBride) Hastings, brothers, Spencer, Grover Eddie and William Sellers, sisters, Rebia McGrant, Leatha Mason and Anne Lowery, two great-grands, Armond Jones and Aariel Oliver.
Cherishing her memories are four children, Lillian (Bishop Gerald) Evans, Minister Lee (Kim) McBride of Massillon, Bradford McBride of Dayton, Ohio, and Patricia McBride of Charlotte, NC, daughter-in-law Linda (Dampier) McBride of Massillon, son-in-law Alvin Hastings of Charlotte, NC; brothers, George (Delia) Sellers, Charlotte, NC, James Bryant, Hamden, CT, sisters, Mary Lowery, Mary Bernadette, Charlotte, NC, Lucy (James) Redding, Ruby, SC, Viola Nelson, New Haven, CT, sisters-in-law Martha Sellers, Chesterfield, SC, Dinah Sellers, New Haven, CT.; 18 grandchildren and 40 great-grandchildren; special friend, Nancy Clay, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
