Obituary

Pearlene Cole Myricks was born April 12, 1956 in Canton Ohio.  She took flight on February 22 2015 to be with the Lord  Pearlene was proceeded in death by her mother Myrtis Cole, her father, Rev. Percy Cole, her brother Herman Cole, her aunt Bernice Skinner, and grandmother Sadie Smalls. Pearlene was taught to play the piano by her mother Myrtis Cole. By the age of three, Pearlene played by ear – songs her mother taught her.  Pearlene began her music ministry at Zion Baptist Church under the leadership of her father, Rev. Percy Cole.  She was the lead singer for the family gospel singing group, The Traveling Angels.  By the age of nine, she was asked to play for various churches including Peoples Baptist Church. By the age of eleven she became the musician for Mt. Calvary Baptist Church of Massillon, Ohio.  Pearlene has also assisted and played for various churches throughout Stark County. Her final assignment was at St. Mark Baptist Church and New Greater Hope Seven Day Adventist Community Church. Pearlene has faithfully given her singing gifts for various programs, funerals and weddings without asking for compensation. Pearlene had a heart for youth.  She worked for Canton City Schools has a Family Support Specialist where she mentored and worked with young mothers who would call on her day or night.  She never failed to answer their call.  Pearlene was certified in Early Childhood Training and Foster Parenting.  She provided foster care to many youth who left her home better than when they came. Pearlene leave to cherish her memory her devoted husband of 24 years. Jerome R. Myricks.   Pearlene and Jerome have seven children Darlene Cole (Anthony Calhoun), Percy Ingram (Teleise), Travis Ingram and Charla Green:  Jerome Jr., Tracy and Wanda Myricks. She leaves fourteen grandchildren: Tobias, Tyler, Toni (Lulu) Calhoun: Pertrice, Percy Jr., Taleeyia, Trayvon Ingram, Michael Dawson, JaNiya, and JeMir Davis.  Travis Jr. Ingram, Khi, Josiah, Alajha Ingram: one great grand, Pertraya Ingram.  Special niece Bernice (Yetta) Butler and a host of foster children.  Sisters: Vera Thomas, Mary Lee Cole Brown (Ronnie) both of Lexington, Felounese Washington of Canton, Bernice Anderson of Detroit and one brother Edward (Eddie) Cole of  Orlando Fla;  and her Aunt Diana Sumpter. In-laws Janice and Montez Myricks, Juanita Miller, Beatrice (Anthony) Mitchell. Julius (Laura) Myricks, Al (Ruth) Myricks. She leaves a host of nieces and nephews, cousins and other family and friends. "…For unto whomever much is given; of him shall be much required.." (Luke 12:48).  God has blessed Pearlene with an awesome gift of playing the piano and singing.  She has willingly and graciously served this community for over fifty years and now has joined the heavenly choir.
