Patricia "Susie" Morton's Obituary

Susie was truly someone you wouldn't forget. She lived boldly, with a spirit that was both fiery and loving. When she had something to say, she spoke her mind, but her words always came from a place of deep care and loyalty for those she loved.

Growing up as the only girl among four brothers, Susie developed a strength and independence that stayed with her throughout her life. Her love for football, especially her Cleveland Browns, reflected that passion and tenacity. Whether in her family or her work, Susie carried that energy into everything she did.

Her years at the American Legion were a testament to her commitment to her community. Susie wore many hats during her time there, including Chaplain, Secretary, and 1st Vice President under her good friend, President Joyce King. Susie was also a day Bar Hostess for many years, showing compassion to so many patrons it was uncountable. She truly enjoyed the work she did. The Legion wasn't just a job for her—it was a place of connection and celebration, especially when it came to her birthdays, which she loved to celebrate there each year with friends and family.

Susie had her own unique passions. She was a collector of bells, and her love for Betty Boop was one of her many charming quirks. She found joy in the little things that made life special, and those details helped define who she was.

Family was always at the heart of Susie's life. She and her daughter, Migion Morton, shared a special bond and went everywhere together. Even with her son living away, she stayed close just the same. But her grandkids, Montelle and Mykel, were the absolute light of her life. She adored them and took great pride in being their grandmother.

As the only sister to her four brothers, she shared a special bond with them, one that shaped her toughness and resilience, yet also brought out her caring and nurturing side.

If there is anything to learn from Susie's life, it's the power of being unapologetically yourself. She showed us that love could be fierce, honest, and unwavering, and that the small, unique joys in life—whether it's collecting bells, cheering on your team, or caring for those you love—are what truly make life rich. Susie's spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew her, reminding us to live boldly, love deeply, and embrace the things that bring us joy.

Susie is survived by her children, DaMarcus and Migion (Anthony). She was a loving grandmother to her grandsons, Montelle and Mykel, and her great-grandchildren, Montoria, Montae'a, Montae, and Kai'ore.

Susie is also survived by her brothers, Anthony "Ankie", Dwight (Antoinette) and Greg. Special sisters Patricia and Donna, both former wives of her brothers, who remained close to the family. She leaves behind her nieces, Tiffany, Marquita, Kimberly (Barron), Courtney (Chris), Kyla, along with her nephews, Rashad (Kelcy), and Gerald. Additionally, she is survived by great-nieces and nephews, as well as extended family in Toledo, special friend James Johnson, and of course a host of friends.

Susie was preceded in death by her parents, Hazel and Lavon, her brother, Gerald "Jerry", and special family friend James Dew.
