PASTOR MARY LOVEE COX
Our community sadly lost a pillar on Tuesday January 25, 2022, when Pastor Mary Lovee (Battle) Cox passed away. Mary was born August 25, 1946, in Canton, Ohio to the late Daniel and Inez Battle.
She was a graduate of McKinley High School, class of 1964. Lovee as she was fondly known, attended Mansfield Business College; God's Way Bible College April 2009; Board and Staff (Creating a Strong Partnership) Kent Stark; Akron General Hospital (Pastoral Education) and The University of Oklahoma Mentoring Children of Prisoners Grantee Training, Tulsa Oklahoma.
She was ordained under Son Rise Global Ministries Inc. May 27, 2001 under Presiding Bishop Winnie Hamilton.
Pastor Cox loved the lord and honored him in her everyday living by telling the good news of the goodness of the lord. Mary Lovee had a passion for the church, especially her "Drop In Childrens Music Ministry" that she founded, where music was taught to the youth by Elder John Wright. Her life was a testament of her continued faith even as her health began to decline.
Pastor Cox was the Co-Pastor of the Community Drop In Center and The Light In Christ Church, and served for over 25 years. Her community activities include; Treasurer of The Young Gifted and Black Foundation Inc. Pastor Cox was the recipient of the 2002 Dove Award and The Mayors Citation Pastoral 3rd Anniversary 2003 Award, and the NCBW Northeast Ohio Volunteers Award in 2016.
She leaves to mourn her passing the love of her life Pastor Raphael Cox, whom she married October, 19, 1968. Children Gerald (Dhea) Cox; Grandchildren Brandon Cox, DeAnte' Gray; Siblings, Paul (Gloria) Battle; Ronnie Battle; Wanda Battle; Cousin Essie (LeRoy) Dillard; Sister in law Joann Cox; Sister in law Patricia Henderson; Brother in law Ronnie (Terri) Cox; Brother in law Timothy (Mary Pat) Cox; Sister in law Clara Denise Cox; Special cousin Pastor Suzzette Smith; Special Friends Diane Williams-Fenelle; Evangelist Linda Patterson; Superintendent Pastor Ace Gillems; Spiritual Mentor Mother Annie Simon; and a host of nieces, nephews relatives and friends.
The family would like to express our thanks for the wonderful help and care given by Cleveland Clinic Select Hospital at Mercy in taking care of our dear loved one. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made payable to the "Drop In Childrens Music Ministry" PO Box 22073-Canton, Ohio 44701.
