Pastor Wallace James Fleming, Sr.'s Obituary

Life's Journey

"For we know that if our earthly house of this tabernacle were dissolved, we have a building of God, a house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens." 2 Corinthians 5:1

On July 18, 2023, Pastor Wallace James Fleming, Sr. completed his mission here on earth and transcended to be with the Lord.  Wallace was born May 27, 1946, in Canton, MS to the late Thelma Allen and R.V. Fleming. He was raised by his loving grandparents, the late Rev. Willie and Mattie Washington.

Wallace confessed his belief in Christ at an early age and was baptized at Southern Hill M. B. Church, Canton, MS. He was a proud member of Rogers High School Class of 1966. After hearing God's calling, he obeyed and entered the gospel of ministry. On April 18, 1969, Wallace was licensed and ordained as a minister by the late Rev. N. B. Jackson, Pastor of Southern Hill M. B. Church. Wallace had a desire to deepen his understanding of the gospel in an effort to obtain God's approval. Therefore, he attended and received a Bachelor of Arts degree from American Theological Seminary (Nashville, TN) in 1977.

After serving as Pastor of three previous churches, he found his home at Independence M. B. Church in Smithville, OH. There he proudly served as the Pastor for fourteen years.

His five devoted children will cherish his memories for the rest of their lives: Glenda Buckner of St. Louis, MO, Orlanda (Andra) Bouldin of Canton, MS, Jesue Chris Fleming of Nashville, TN, Wallace (Meka) Fleming, Jr. of Durham, NC, and  Jerckarra (Rosina) Page of Tampa, FL; eleven (11) loving  grandchildren: Deverio Bouldin, Di'Nesha Bouldin, Danesha Bouldin, Angel Readus, Michael Buckner, Jazzy Buckner, Breonna Buckner, Arrington Fleming, Christopher Fleming, Jr., Jerckarra Page, Jr., and Tyrus Page; his siblings: Limmie Walls of Nashville, TN, Michael Jennings, Sylvia Jennings, Carl Jennings, Johnnie M. Waters all of Youngstown, OH; twelve great grandchildren; the Independence M. B. Church family and a host of other beloved relatives and friends.

Wallace was preceded in death by his brother, Willie Walls.
