Pastor Frank E. Penn's Obituary

Rev. Frank Eugene, 71, of Canton, Ohio, passed away peacefully on May 28, 2025. Born on December 2, 1953, in New Orleans, Louisiana, Frank lived a life rooted in faith, family, and service to others. Frank was the beloved husband of the late Patricia Penn (Carter), with whom he shared a deep and enduring bond. He was the cherished son of Letitia Ketchens and Curtis Penn and was preceded in death by his brother Joseph Corner Sr., mother-in-law Ada Mae Carter, and brothers-in-law Travis Henry Carter and Michael Louis Carter. A devoted father, Frank leaves behind his daughters Letitia Ahunti Nicole Dotson (Penn), Staci-Love Devereaux, and Teeka Johnson; his son Rajhi Germaine Davis; and a legacy of love through his twelve grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. He also leaves behind two brothers-in-law, Gary Carter and Ronald Carter; five nieces; nine nephews; a host of great-nieces and nephews; cousins; close friends; and his special friend Teeke —all of whom were touched by his warmth and generosity. Frank's life was marked by unwavering dedication to his community and church. On October 23, 1996, he became an ordained minister through United Bible Missionary Baptist Church Inc., beginning a spiritual journey that would define much of his life. For over 25 years, he volunteered at Grace Baptist Church in Canton, ministering throughout the city with compassion and conviction. His presence brought comfort to many, and his words inspired hope in those who heard them. Beyond the pulpit, Frank was known for his vibrant personality—loving, caring, kind-hearted, giving—and as a true social butterfly who never met a stranger. He had a deep love for sports—especially football and basketball—and could often be found cheering from the sidelines or watching games with family. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed fishing and hunting whenever he had the chance. Frank's culinary talents were legendary among those who knew him. His Filet Gumbo dish was not only one of his favorites to prepare but also a treasured staple at family gatherings. Cooking was one of the many ways he expressed love for those around him. Family meant everything to Frank. He made it a priority to attend every game, graduation, performance—or any event—that involved his children, grandchildren, nieces or nephews. His support was steadfast and heartfelt; he showed up not just in presence but in spirit. Frank Eugene will be remembered as a man who lived with purpose: grounded in faith, devoted to family, generous with time and heart. His legacy lives on through the many lives he touched with kindness and grace. May his memory bring comfort to all who knew him.
