Nathaniel Nevels,
Jr.
August 10, 1957 – June 20, 2025
Nathaniel Nevels Jr. (affectionately called Skate by his family and friends, and known as G.P. by his grandchildren), born August 10 1957 to the late Mr. & Mrs. Nathaniel and Jeannette Nevels in Akron Ohio. He was called to eternal rest on Friday, June 20, 2025.
Nate accepted Christ at an early age and was a member of the United Methodist Church.
Nate's career took him on a journey working with youths in the Akron area; working 11 years with the Summit County Department of Recreation. From there he went on to work for the State of Ohio Department of Youth Services and retired from there after 28 years of service. Even after retirement, Nate went back to the workforce where he spent a few more years working for the Summit County
Juvenile Detention Center, driving a school bus for Coventry Township, and lastly driving for United Disability Services. He was truly dedicated to working with our youths of today.
Nate leaves to cherish his memory beloved wife, Renee Palmer-Nevels; children, Nathaniel (Jessica) Love of South Carolina, Dante (Ricarda) Nevels of Sembach, Germany, Dexter (Erica) Nevels of Fort Novosel, Alabama, Michael (Ayonna) Palmer of Dayton, Ohio, Frederick (Deja) Palmer, Erica (Cory) Brannon, and Natia (Scott) Curto, all of Akron, Ohio; siblings, Pamela (Sam) Nevels-Banks, Gwendolyn Culver, Anita Nevels-Sneed, Nadine (Motese) Rhasiatry, Paul Nevels and Steven (Shawn) Nevels; 25 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
