January 23, 1940 – February 8, 2018
Nat Prather was called home to glory land on Thursday morning, February 8, 2018 following a brief illness. He was surrounded and supported by his family and loved ones the last days of his life. Nat was born in Corinth, Mississippi on January 23, 1940 to the parents of Sam and Velma (Bell) Prather. Nat graduated Valedictorian in 1958 at Corinth High School and achieved his Bachelor Science Degree in Chemistry at Mississippi Valley State in 1963. Nat taught High School Chemistry and Biology Classes in Columbus, Mississippi and Cleveland, Ohio. He soon left the education field and was a Bus Driver and Instructor for Greyhound, Inc. Nat's love language was acts of service and quality time. He enjoyed yard work, fixing up homes and making sure they're tidy and spotless. He loved spending quality time with family and friends, laughing, watching the news, playing cards, and fishing! Nat will be remembered by others by his non-judgemental attitude, servant heart, and being super cool! In addition to his parents Nat is preceded in death by his loving siblings; brothers, John Lee Prather and Sam Prather; sisters, Bernice Prather-Barnett and Mary Glenn Prather– Maze. Nat leaves to cherish his memories; his ex-wife and mother of his children, JoEthel Prather of Cleveland, Ohio; son Nathaniel Prather; daughter, Dr. JoNataye Prather of Dallas, Texas; grandchildren, NaTasha Webb-Prather (J.D.) of Cleveland, Ohio, Jonathan Prather of Canton, Ohio, Calysta Prather of Cleveland, Ohio, Nathaniel Prather, Jr. of Dallas, Texas and one great-grandchild, Jonathan Prather, Jr. of Canton, Ohio; (4) siblings, Betty (James) Simmons, Virginia (Terry, Sr. - deceased) Heidelberg; sister-in-law, Alice (Sam-deceased) Prather all of Canton, Ohio, Elsie (Charles) Beverly of Massillon, Ohio and sister-in-law, Theresa (John Lee-deceased) Prather of Cleveland, Ohio as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.
