Obituary

Naomi White Carter 87 was born in Shreveport Louisiana to Samuel B. and Zenobia White on April 7, 1936.  The White family relocated to Akron, Ohio in 1937 where She became a lifetime resident.

She went Home to be with the Lord on Sunday June 11, 2023, surrounded by her family after a brief illness.

In 1955 Naomi met and married a young boxer named "Rock" Lawrence Leo Carter Jr. To this union there were six children born Lawrence III (Chico), Gloria D., twins Maxine R. and       Marlene L., April L. and Thomas J. (TJ). She also played a key role in the lives of her nieces and nephews.

She demonstrated unconditional love and made everyone feel like her favorite. Affectionately known as Granny, Aunt Naomi, Namie, Aunty Nana, Auntie Nay, she was always available to those who needed her.  She often gave advice or just a listening ear.  She will always be remembered for her classy style and how easily she took control of a room.  She bought love and fun wherever she went.

She was employed by Sizzlers Steak House, Akron Children Hospital Neonatal Unit. and Evant Group Home.

After the family relocated to Akron, the White family became members of Wooster Avenue Temple Church of God in Christ under the leadership of Bishop CA. Ashworth. Sister Naomi received Christ and continued to be a faithful member following the church through its growth to present-day name St. Ashworth Temple Church of God in Christ. She always remained faithful under the late leadership of Pastors LC Walker, Richard A Bradford.  She was especially proud to be under the leadership of her nephew and the current Pastor, Robert E. DeJournett. Mother Naomi was dedicated on the Usher Board, YWCC, Hospitality and the Mother's Board.

Naomi was a loyal dedicated mother, grandmother, great and great great grandmother, vibrant and caring sister, aunt and friend.

She is preceded in death by her parents Samuel B and Zenobia White, husband Larry of 40 years, grandchildren Timothy and Tiffany McKnight, brother Chester A. White, daughter-in-law Rhonda D. Carter and sister-in-law Margaret White

She leaves to celebrate her life, children Lawrence Leo (Chico)III, Gloria D, Maxine R. McKnight, Marlene L (Kenneth) Sanders, April L. and Thomas J. (Staci),

Grandchildren: Antoine Carter, Naomi J. Sanders, Ruthie L. (Michael) Hicks, Victoria (Joseph) Burrell, Delone (Amanda) Carter, Lawrence L Carter IV, Morgan L. Carter, Thomas J Carter Jr., Taliyah J. Carter and Ty'Anna J. Carter

Great Grand Children: Taylor Wright, Ja'llon Sanders, Courtney Brock, Antoine Carter Jr., Jamal Carter, Evie Carter, Caden D. Carter Ja'coryin Peoples, Tristian Thompson, Gabriel Carter, Joseph Burrell Jr., Twins Jase and Jeremy Burrell, Savannah L. Carter, Aliliyanah D.H.Carter, Marcel D. Carter and Baby Girl on the way Ariyah
