Myrtle Brooks (Swain), 78, made a peacefull transition from this earthly life August 11, 2017. Born in Coosada, Alabama, she came to the Akron area as a child. She had been a homemaker for all of her adult life. Myrtle was preceded in death by parents, Floyd and Hattie Brooks; the love of her life, Eddie Swain Jr.; brothers, Claud "Buddie" Brooks, Willie "Bobie" Brooks; sisters, Clyde Vincent, Annise Gates, Mildred Bennett, Ethel Butler, and Louise Driggs. She leaves to cherish her memory, sister Lula Brooks-Smith of Akron, Oh.; daughters Phyllis Chapman, Lawanda (Fredrick) Chisolm, and Damonica Bell, all of Akron, Oh.; brother-in-law, Joe Willie Gates of Akron, Oh.; 5 grandchildren, 5 great-grand children, and a host of nieces nephews, other relatives, and friends. Celebration of life service will be held on Wednesday, August 16, 2017 at 12 p.m. at Rhoden Memorial Home 1101 Palmetto Ave., Akron, Ohio 44306.
