Minnie Mitchell was born June 26, 1922 in Atlanta, GA to the late Phelix and Nellie Peters. At a young age the family relocated to Akron, Ohio where she was raised and resided all her life.  In 1943 she was united in marriage to the late Charles Mitchell Sr. To this union were born four beautiful children William II, Charles Jr, Cathy and Allison.

Momma was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She was a volunteer for Bantam Football, CAC and Job Placement Services for the youth. Momma loved sports, and game shows, especially the Family Feud and truly enjoyed spending time with her family. Momma was preceded in death by her parents,Phelix and Nellie Peters; husband, Charles Mitchell Sr.; brothers, Felix Peters Jr. and Robert Peters; sister, Annie Mae Dial; sons, William Mitchell II and Charles Mitchell Jr; granddaughter, Lahkeyah Butler; and son-in-Law, Lawrence Butler, and special friend, James Dew. Momma is survived by brother, Ralph (Myrtle) Peters; devoted daughters, Cathy Butler, Allison (Kenny) Smith; grandchildren, Rochelle, Robyn, Ranita, Ranetta, William II, Raashon, Raashona, Raheim, Lawrence, Kauisha, Kenneth, Kimani; great-grand children, LaTasha, James Jr, Asia, Kennede', Halanah, Wynter, Lawrence Riley, Kamille, Layla, Kamryn; special nephews, Leonard (Paula) Mitchell, Roland (Penny) Peters, special friends, Penny Ward, Andrea Dew, Marla Belcher and a host of other loving relatives and friends. Celebration of life service will be held on Saturday, December 30, 2017 at 12 p.m. at Rhoden Memorial Home 1101 Palmetto Ave., Akron, Ohio 44306. Family will receive friends from 11 a.m. until time of service. Interment at Glendale cemetery. Procession will form and condolences may be sent to 557 Storer Ave., Akron, Ohio 44320.
