Michelle L.
Card-Settles
July 13, 1961 – December 17, 2024
Michelle L. (Shelby) Card-Settles was born July 13, 1961, to the late Carrie L. (Willie) Gray (Card). She left her earthly vessel to be with Jesus on Tuesday, December 17, 2024. God was ready to bring her home. She was preceded in death by her Grandparents: Julius and Ethel Kate Card, Brother: Tyrone A. (Phyllis) Card I, Sister: Murdis Shipp, Special Sister: Lisa Risby, Aunt: Maggie (Otis) Hasker, Uncles: Thomas (Ruth) Card, Jerry Card, Richard Card, and Special Friends Cheryl (Heavy) Graham and Deloris Hill (Dee) Hill. She leaves to cherish her memories: her Daughter Tiavianna Card. Sisters: Jacqueline (Elder Edward) Allen-O'Neal, Jacquetta (Mikel) Gray-Brown, Brianna Gray, Davian Torrence, Kim Shipp, Gail Odd, and Crystal Clark. Grandchildren: Avixer Card-Tarver and Chae'Vionn Card-O'Neal, Special Sisters: Yolanda Brown (La La), Robin King, and a host of Aunts, Uncles, Nieces, Nephews, Cousins, Relatives, and Friends. Michelle was a no-nonsense woman, living life without limits, unafraid of who or what was coming next. She faced adversity with force and fire; never losing her faith in God. Her trials and tribulations always brought her back to him. Michelle was the life of the party, anytime you were with her you were guaranteed wholesome laughs and a good time. Michelle would give the shirt off her back to anyone in need. In January 2012, she re-dedicated her life to Christ and shared her beautiful testimony of how God's love and grace kept her and reconciled her back to him. Michelle is a graduate of McKinley Senior High School and National Beauty College; at the age of 52 she became a board-certified Cosmetologist. Michelle's successful completion of beauty college was more than her certification; it represents her triumph over addiction and changing her life's focus. She displayed notable work ethic and dedication throughout her employment at Long John Silvers, Burger King, and McDonald's late in her life, showing love and kindness to the people she met. Michelle was an overcomer, loved by all who had the privilege of truly knowing her. Her resilience a tribute to her undying passion for life and people. Her strong finish an example of God's unconditional love and grace toward his children. While Michelle may be absent in body from this earth, her voice and kind heart is something that will never be forgotten.
