In Loving Memory of Michael A. Wright

Michael A. Wright, 72, of Kent, went away to meet the Lord on February 20, 2024. He was born on October 19, 1951, in Ravenna, to Bennie and Robbie Wright. Michael graduated from Kent Theodore Roosevelt High School, where he actively participated in basketball and track. He briefly attended Kent State University, where he met Wilma, with whom he soon married. From their union, their beloved daughter, Kimberly, was born.

Michael worked as a welding, for Cleveland Steel for a short period and dedicated much of his working life later at The Floyds Recycling Company and Elbex, where he served faithfully until his retirement. Affectionately known as Mike, he left an indelible mark on the lives of many who crossed his path. He found joy in drinking his beer, sports, music, and lending a helping hand, especially to the elderly in his community. Mike embraced the call of salvation in December 2023, adding solace and purpose in his faith.

He is survived by his daughter, Kimberly, of Atlanta, GA, along with his granddaughters, Brean-na, Tania and grandson, John also residing in Atlanta, GA. Mike is also survived by his sisters, Debbie (Leonard) O'Neil and Gwen Wright, both of Kent, Ohio. He is preceded in death by his parents, Robbie and Bennie Wright, his former wife, Wilma, and his siblings, Roland Metcalfe and Printellis Wright and Terry Wright. He leaves behind a legacy of love and compassion, cher-ished by his nieces, nephews, and a multitude of extended family members and friends.

Mike was lovingly cared for by his niece, Melanie, until his peaceful passing after a brief illness.

He deeply valued the friendships he formed throughout his life, especially those with James and Lee Floyd, the Johnson family, Madeline Dunaway, Mrs. Flora Peoples, Carmen Douglas, and many others.
