Michael Lorenzo Motley, affectionately known as "Tex," departed this life on January 30, 2026, at Summa Hospital in Akron, Ohio, surrounded by family.

Tex was born on April 1, 1969, in Akron, Ohio, to Patricia Motley and Percy (Vera) Alexander Jr. He was born and raised on Akron's south side, a place that shaped who he was and that he always called home. He attended Akron Public Schools and went on to build a strong work ethic through a career as a traveling contractor, later retiring as a janitor at Summa Hospital.

Tex was a lover of sports, especially football, and proudly represented his favorite team, Michigan State. He was well known for his silly laugh and his obnoxious stories, which never failed to leave an impression. Though naturally private and quiet, when Tex spoke with seriousness, he meant every word. He said what he said, and he stood on it.

Tex leaves to cherish his memory his only child, Tashala Motley; grandsons, Tymere Motley and Raphael Griffin Jr.; and granddaughter, Raquel Griffin. He is also survived by his brothers, Dwane Motley, Percy Alexander, Quincey Alexander, and Julius Alexander; sisters, Denavar Motley and Lanise Motley; and his beloved best friends, April Burton, KK, Jeff Garner, KC, Bobby Neal and Bernard Lane.

He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Benjamin "Grand-Papi" Motley and Percy Alexander Sr.; grandmothers, Betty "Granny" Motley and Evelyn Brice; cousins, Kenny Wayne "Tank" Motley, JaVonne Motley, and Leon "Marlon" Motley; uncles, Bobby Motley, Mikey Motley, Jerry, and Walter Alexander; nephews, Percy and Gig Alexander; and dear friends, Leroy Saafir, Tom-Tom, and Vackers.

Tex will be remembered for his quiet strength, unmistakable laugh, love of family & friends, and the lasting impact he made on everyone who truly knew him.
