Merlene T. Waters went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, January 25, 2017 in the Aultman Compassionate Care Center  following a brief illness. She was born in Pike County, Alabama on November 5, 1931 to the late Roscoe Terry, Sr. and Ammie Lee Wilson-Terry. She enjoyed cooking and baking was her specialty. She was known for her special barbecue sauce! She enjoyed gardening! She worked as a Household Technician for many years. She was a member of Asbury Chapel African Methodist Church for 50 plus years; where she served faithfully as an Usher and was loyal member and supporter until her health began to fail. Mrs. Waters was a secretary for the Women's Auxiliary at the Canton Negro Oldtimers (CNOT). She was a member of ICUA Ushers Organization and secretary of the organization for many years. In addition to her parents Mrs. Waters was preceded in death by her husband, Jesse James Waters; (3) brothers, Eddie B. Terry, Willie Frank Terry and Arthur Lewis Terry; (1) sister, Belinda Faye Terry. Cherished fond memories of life remain with her daughter, Laurel "Jeannie" and son-in-law Johnnie DuBose of North Canton, Ohio; grandson, Derek DuBose of Columbus Ohio;(5) brothers, Roscoe Terry, Jr. of Brundidge, Alabama, Freddie (Gloria) Terry of Canton, Ohio, Jimmy Terry of Dothan, Alabama, Billy (Faye) Terry of Brundidge, Alabama; Bobby Terry of Brundidge, Alabama; sister-in-law, Mamie Irvin of Canton, Ohio; special friends, Lessie Anthony and Elizabeth Thomas both of Canton, plus a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
