Melvin Darnell Ellis, 52, of Canton, Ohio, passed away on October 17, 2024. Born, April 16, 1972, in Canton, Ohio, Melvin was well known for his vibrant personality and generous spirit. Melvin's career spanned over two decades in sales and finance at Spitzer Management, where he was a valued team member. His exceptional performance was recognized by the Stark County Dealers Association, earning accolades for his contributions to sales and service. Throughout his life, Melvin was a beacon of love and laughter, always ready to lend a helping hand. His outgoing nature and willingness to give to others left a lasting impact on everyone he met. Melvin's passion for life extended into his personal interests as well. From his youth, he excelled in baseball, earning awards and breaking records. He also enjoyed coaching little league sports, fishing, dining out, playing the game of chance, and watching his favorite sport teams, the Cleveland Browns and Cleveland Guardians. Melvin cherished the time spent with all of his family, particularly hosting sleepovers with his grandchildren and his outings with his sons. Melvin was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Susie Williams, and Charles Calvin Ellis; paternal grandparents, Willie, and Ruth Nichols; his parents, Sharon Ellis, and Duane "Hot Shot" Nichols; his daughter, Margaret Marie Ellis; grandson, Noah Micheal Ellis; aunts Vina "Libby" Ellis-Hill, Deborah Williams, and Debra "Tina" Nichols-Scott. Special uncle, Melvin Ellis Sr.; along with uncles, Bryan Nichols, and Calvin "Donnie" Ellis. Melvin leaves behind a loving family, including his sons, Christian (Danielle) Ellis and Justin Stokes; grandchildren, Bri'El Ellis, Le'Ona Hackworth, and Mekhi Ellis; sister, Courtney Stokes; nephew, Parker Swinehart; ex-wife and special friend, Dionna Stokes-Ellis; uncles, Moses (Tracey) Williams and Gregory Nichols; aunts, Betty Ellis, and Lydia (Jerry) Spencer; a host of special cousins that were more like siblings, including, Rondy (Davida) Jones, Kendall Washington, Dennis Underwood, Emmanuel Underwood, Leroy Jones, Lavette Jones, Lance (Charlene) Martin, Robin Ellis, Moriah Ellis, Me'Kyla Davenport-Ellis, Wil'Laya McCollum, Anthony Armstead, Melvin Ellis Jr., Charles Ellis, Carlitha Silva, Lamont Williams and Miguel Nichols; also, best friends, Malik Knox and Mike Shaheen; godchildren, lkeiah Burns, Kamil Knox, Jaylynn Knox, and Jayce Knox; along with other relatives and friends. His legacy of kindness, humor, and generosity will be missed.
