Melvin Duchauan Caruthers, 57, was born on January 13, 1961 to Melvin Caruthers and Gwendolyn Smith in Chicago, Illinois. He received  his wings on July 19, 2018 after a brief battle with cancer, surrounded by love in the form of family. He is preceded in death by his parents, Melvin Caruthers and Gwendolyn Smith; brother, Troy Caruthers and twin son, Deshawn Prince Travis. Left to cherish his memory is his daughters, Deshawnda (Rashid) Fitzgerald, Lakisha Travis; sons, Melvin Travis and Romeo (Shanee) Travis; 11 grandchildren, 1 great grandson; brother, Darryl Caruthers; special aunt, Mary (Edwin) Hopson; uncle, Edward (Butch) Smith; special cousins, Tori and Tracy Hopson and Butch Smith all of Akron, Ohio especially the northside!
