Mellissa Rivers always known as "Missy" ascended Thursday November 25, 2021. She was born a twin. The eldest by 1 minute on September 23, 1978 in Akron, Ohio to Deborah Rivers-Smith and the late Jerome Rivers.

Missy graduated from Barberton High School in 1998. She went on to pursue a career in the food industry until 1999 when she became visually impaired. She then spent the next 18 plus years volunteering for the blind community.

She was the most genuine, down to earth person you could ever know. Her smile would brighten any room, and she was guaranteed to make you laugh. Her positive outlook on life and her love towards family was unprecedented. She loved music of all genres; she always said it was food for her soul. She loved food (both cooking and eating), crafting and designing and especially enjoyed crocheting hats.

Missy met the love of her life, Masquanada Douglas, in 2000 and they created a son Masquanada Rasheed Douglas and a daughter Sydney Reyn Douglas.

Missy was preceded in death by her beloved grandparents Kay Francis Willis, Charles Harris and Jessie and Herman Rivers, and her father Jerome Rivers.

Missy now watches over Masquanada (Nada) Douglas; son Masquanada (Massy) Douglas; daughter Sydney (YahYah) Douglas; her mother Deborah Rivers-Smith of Columbus, OH; her sisters Lesslie Harris of PhoenixAZ, LaShaundra Brandon of Akron, Jasia Rivers (Donald Williams, Jr.) of Columbus, OH, Melanie Rivers of Akron, Kim Carter of Akron; special sister/friend Paige Rackley of Akron; and a host of nieces and nephews, cousins, extended family and friends.
