Maxine S. Luck, 72, passed away on March 23, 2018 at Akron General Medical Center. She was born in Evergreen, Alabama the third of fourteen children. She moved to Akron, Ohio from Tacoma, WA, in 1976, where she began working at St. Thomas Hospital, retiring in 2010. She was a long standing member of United Baptist Church, where she wore her signature hats and gloves each Sunday. Maxine was preceded in death by her father, Arthur Stephens Jr.; mother, Clara E. Stephens; and sister-in-law, Helen Stephens. Maxine is survived by one son, Michael S. Luck of Tacoma, WA; six sisters, Annie M, Rev. Georgia Stephens of Akron, OH, Willie M, Dorothy (Roosevelt) Scott, Linda J. Sparks of Omaha, NE, Geraldine Tait of Evergreen, AL; seven brothers, Charles, MacArthur, Kenneth, Robert, James (June) Stephens of Akron, OH, Leon Stephens of Omaha, NE and Sherwood Stephens of Evergreen, AL; and a host of uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins and wonderful friends. Interment at Mt. Peace cemetery. Procession will form and condolences may be sent to 287 Noah Ave., Akron, Ohio 44320.
