Maurice Seals, age 74, passed away on September 11, 2026, at Pebble Creek Healthcare Center in Akron, Ohio. Born on June 4, 1952, in Starkville, Mississippi, to Barbara J. Cooper and Matthew Seals, Maurice graduated from Central Howard in 1971.

Known affectionately to many by his nicknames—"Reese," "Reese Cup," "Cup," and most dearly as "Dad"—Maurice will be remembered for the warmth and personality he brought to the lives of those around him.

He leaves behind a loving family, including his five children: Monte Hood, Jimmie Lee, Maurice Lee, Brandy Seals, and Asheley Colbert; his eight grandchildren: Mariah, Kayla, Raven, Alexis, Whitney, Xavier, McKenna, Stephanie, and Kennedi; six great-grandchildren; special friend, Joann Colbert. He is also survived by a host of extended relatives and dear friends who will miss him deeply.

Maurice was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers Jake Johnson and Melvin Seals, and his wife, Pamela Seals. He leaves behind a legacy of love and will be forever cherished in the hearts of his family and friends.
