Mattie Anderson, 94, passed away peacefully on June 25, 2024, to be with the Lord. She was born on January 13, 1930, to the late Robert and Ethel Straughn in Monroeville, Alabama. She later met and married the late Rufus Anderson. To this union they had 8 children. She was a stay-at-home mother who loved to cook, have family/friend gatherings, and playing bingo. Everyone who knew her knew she was very funny, and she would always tell it like it is.

Mattie was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Ethel Straughn; husband, Rufus Anderson; brothers, Booker T. and Robert Straughn "Billy Joe"; sisters, Elizabeth Johnson, Juanita Walker and Bessie Milton; daughter, Mary Jones; and sons, Micheal Anderson and Danny Anderson.

She leaves to cherish her loving memory, daughters, Gwen Ware, Renetta Smith and Shirley Singfield; sons, John and Anthony Anderson (Candace). She will be missed by her children and loved ones. She was blessed to witness the birth of over 20 grandchildren, and over 30 great and great-great grandchildren; she also leaves a host of other relatives and friends.
