Mary Lee
(Townsley) Moody
September 7, 1953 – August 21, 2019
Mary Lee Townsely Moody was born September 7, 1953 in Paducah, Kentucky to the union of the late John D. Townsley and Ora Lee Townsley. Mary graduated from McKinley High School in 1972. She then found an interest in the skin, hair, and nail care business which landed her at Gerber Beauty College in 1982. Mary showed no signs of slowing down and went on to become a Certified Massage Therapist in 2011 as well as a medical assistant. After 30 years of remarkable resilience and a servant of her Savior, Jesus Christ her inspirational work ethic for many years at Canton Health Care Center as a care giver, Mary settled in and retired from Sugardale Meats in the summer of 2000.
Mary enjoyed life and though for many years she was positioned by GOD to become the Mother of those who no longer had a mother, she did so with so much grace, dignity, poise and wisdom because she somehow knew all the right words to encourage so many who were just going through difficult times. Mary enjoyed life to the fullest and somehow managed to walk in the divine purpose of God's good and perfect will. She absolutely, without a doubt, believed that she would some day get a miracle out of all she had endured in the earth realm. Mary enjoyed dancing, music, especially gospel music. She loved her family, therefore praying for them and would go out of her way just to make each and every one of them feel special in her own way. Mary had zero tolerance for judgmental ignorance and she would speak life to those who seemed lifeless and hope to those who appeared to be hopeless. More than that she loved the Lord and received Him in her life at an early age. She stood firmly and strongly in her faith in Jesus until she joined Him in eternity. She may be gone, however, her legacy will live through the many lives of those she has touched.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her son Edward C. "Diggums" Moody III; brothers, William H. Townsley, Lawrence "Larry/Dink" Townsley, Joe P. Townsley; sisters, Catherine (Booker) Redrick and Penny Anthony.
Mary leaves to cherish her memory her daughters, Ladonna S. Townsley-Thompson, and Katrina D. Townsley both of Canton, Ohio; son, Omar Moody of Canton, Ohio; brothers, Dr. Geno (Jackie) Townsley of Los Angeles, California, James R. (Deborah) Townsely Sr. of Canton, Ohio and Lewis E. (Frances) Townsley of Canton, Ohio; (6) granddaughters, (14) great-grandchildren. A long time best friend Marilyn Anthony and Chris "Talk of the Town" Smith, a good friend Jeff Rowland as well as a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
