Mary Scott, affectionately known as "Ella" passed away surrounded by her family on April 21, 2024.
Mary, born in Akron, OH was the second born of 5 children to Wayne and Emma Jane on January 31,
1944. She graduated from South High School in 1962.
Throughout her life Mary held various jobs including City Laundry, United States Postal Service, Akron, and Babcock & Wilcox. She also enjoyed babysitting for family & friends. For many decades Mary served in the community as a Booster Club Member for the South Rangers Pee Wee Association and Buchtel High School. She also served as a daughter of Mary Exalted Temple (Akron Elks).
The Legacy begins...
Mary's legacy began in the 60's at the custard stand (on Edgewood) when she met William "Billy" Scott.
At the time Mary was a senior in high school, and Billy was recently discharged from the Army. Mary and Billy wed, and went on to have 3 children Destin, Pam "Sissy", and Chereen.
In her spare time Mary enjoyed playing cards, hand dancing, attending her grandchildren's various events, shopping with her sisters, and talking on that phone! Most of all, Mary enjoyed having a good time with her family and friends.
Proceeded in death her loving husband, William "Billy", parents Wayne and Emma Jane "Tina". In laws J.C. "Addie", Curtis "Drudie" Grant, Brothers Ronnie, Jesse Jr., Donald Scott, Jesse Owens Sr., Sister Pammy, and daughter Carasee. She is survived by siblings Barbara Owens, Wayne Jr. (Tonya), Delores, and Annette Grant. Children Debra (Lee) Cotton, Destin (Dorothy), Pam, and Chereen (Marvin).
Grandchildren - William, Destin (LaDora), LaToya (Darryl), Johnell, Trenae, Jordan, Mishaun, Dominic, Thomas, Lee Jr., Sian (Brittany), and Destanie. 20 great grandkids, and 1 great-great grandchild. Special nephews Leon and Billy "Bump", and a host of other family and friends.
